About Me and the Challenge

Hi there! I'm Ashleigh, a twenty-year-old college student and fan of nail polish. I'm ordinarily more bookish than beauty and blog about books at The YA Kitten, so named because cats are my favorite animals ever and YA books are my favorite books ever. I also enjoy writing, reading, singing where no one can hear me, and playing video games.

Anyway, after I collected about 60 bottles of nail polish from just one brand (Julep, if you must know; you'll figure that out quickly), I figured out I've got a little bit of a polish problem. Obviously, I'm getting too much nail polish, but I'm not using as much as I would like either. I repaint my nails once a week, but I don't use much of it. There are some polishes I've owned for months now and never put on because newer colors dance in and grab my attention instead. This blog and this challenge is intended to change that.

This isn't going to be a highly active blog by any means. It's more of a personal polish journal than anything! It'll be updated maybe twice a week: once on Fridays with my manicure of the week and another on Wednesdays with a review of how the manicure held up on me all week. If I get new polish, I'll do haul posts and/or reviews Sundays or Mondays.

The Rules:

1) Use at least three polishes. That's pretty self-explanatory. However I do it--nail art, striping, painting different nails solid colors--I have to use all three significantly (aka no using the third color to put something small on my ring finger nail and call it an accent nail because I can do soooooo much better than that).

2) At least one color will be one I've never worn before until I run out of new polishes. This way, I can figure out what colors I actually like and want to keep. After putting some polishes on, I've found out the formula is incurably impossible to work with or it just looks awful on me and gotten rid of it. There's a big difference between how it looks in-bottle, online, on my color wheels, and on my hands!

3) If I've gotten new polish that week, I have to use four polishes instead of three, one being a polish from that purchase. I like the challenge! It also gives me the chance to make sure the polish I just bought is a good one. I'd hope it is if I bought it, but you never know until you wear it.
